Calibration of a sound reinforcement
When planning new sound reinforcement equipment for rooms already equipped with such a system one has first to evaluate the actual quality of this existing system.
With the Engineers' Office ADA Acoustics & Media Consultants GmbH planning of acoustic modifications begins therefore on principle with a measurement for capturing the existing acoustic conditions with and without sound reinforcement system. Such electroacoustical measurements are carried out in order to ascertain the transmission quality of the sound reinforcement systems.
Parameters such as reverberation time as well as definition, clarity, articulation loss, sound level distribution, frequency band of the direct sound and the overall sound level and also existing delay and equalizer adjustments, are captured herewith.
After installation of the new equipment has been concluded, the measurements are repeated in the course of project commissioning.
Depending on the problems that had to be solved, the parameters measured with priority are, among others:
- Sound pressure level distribution
- Maximum sound pressure level
- Transmission frequency response
- Signal travel times
- STI, Alcons, measure of definition C50, as measures determining speech intelligibility
